Day 2: Lima city (B)

Lima, the capital of Peru, with about ten million inhabitants, is today a large modern city. Inhabited by the pre-Inca cultures Lima and Ychma, and later by the Incas, in 1532 the place was re-founded as the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru, under the name of City of the Kings, and reached its peak during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This long history has left a rich architectural and historical heritage.

We begin the day with a meeting at the hotel to review the travel itinerary and hand over your travel documents. Then, we set out to explore some of Lima’s most remarkable cultural treasures.

This morning tour offers an overview of the city’s key attractions, including a visit to a pre-Inca archaeological site in Miraflores and a guided walk through Lima’s UNESCO-listed Historic Centre. Along the way, enjoy a stop to taste fine Peruvian cacao and visit a colonial convent, with the option to climb its tower for panoramic views.

You’ll end with a broad perspective on Lima’s fascinating evolution through pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern eras. Highlights include a visit to the Convent of Santo Domingo and the Plaza de Armas, where we may witness the ceremonial Changing of the Guard at the Government Palace (subject to the official schedule). Return to Miraflores.
Group size: Maximum 10 participants

Day 3: Family adventure In the Amazon Jungle (B/L/D) - Private service

This family adventure in Peru continues with one of the highlights for kids and young travelers alike: a unique opportunity to navigate the Amazon River, (*) explore a protected natural reserve, and observe wildlife in its natural habitat. All while staying in an eco-friendly lodge developed in partnership with local communities.

Muyuna is a small self-sustainable eco-lodge located in the middle of the Amazon jungle in Peru. It was built in 1999 by the Peruvian family Analia Sarfati, Percy Sanchez and their son Santiago, who was two years old at the time.

Muyuna was built together with the community of San Juan de Yanayacu, keeping a strict relationship with the architecture of the jungle.  Since the lodge rests in front of the river and the water level rises a few meters, it is built on stilts. The walls are made of wood and the roofs are made of palm leaves intertwined by hand.

Ground transfer from airport.

Departure before 10 am by road and river to the lodge (the total trip takes about 3 hours).

Lunch.

First Jungle Dive: Meet the pygmy marmosets, the smallest monkey in the world.

Dinner.

Piranha fishing and relax during Sunset on Lake Sapote.

For intrepid adventurers of all ages: Night walk in search of huge tarantulas and frogs.

Day 5: Community visit in San Jose de Yanayacu (B/L/D)

Wake up to the gentle sounds of the rainforest and start the day with a peaceful birdwatching outing at sunrise—a fun and calming way for the whole family to connect with nature.

After breakfast, hop on a boat to explore nearby lakes and streams, where you’ll spot colorful birds, playful monkeys, and other amazing jungle wildlife.

A highlight for many families is the visit to the local community of San Juan de Yanayacu. Children and adults alike will enjoy meeting local families, learning how people live in the heart of the Amazon, and seeing how this eco-lodge works hand-in-hand with its neighbors to protect the environment and support the community.

After a relaxed lunch, keep an eye out for the Hoatzin, a fascinating prehistoric-looking bird that lives in the swamps.

Enjoy dinner back at the lodge, then get ready for a magical night canoe ride—a quiet adventure perfect for curious little explorers who want to hear the jungle’s night-time symphony.
Overnight at Muyuna Lodge, a cozy and sustainable retreat designed for families who love nature and meaningful travel.

Day 6: Morning in the Jungle & FLight to Cusco (B)

Make the most of your final morning in the Amazon with a gentle kayak or canoe ride on the calm waters near the lodge. There’s also time to unwind—whether it’s relaxing in a hammock, playing by the river, or even going for a swim together.

After an early lunch, you’ll leave the lodge at 1:00 PM to head back to Iquitos airport, arriving around 4:00 PM for your flights to Lima and then Cusco.

When you land in Cusco, you’ll be at over 3,400 meters (11,200 feet), so it’s important to take it slow. We recommend drinking water or coca tea, eating light, and giving your family time to adjust to the thinner mountain air.

Overnight in Cusco

Day 7: Sleeping under the stars: Sustainable Glamping experience in the Community of Misminay (B/L/D)

Step back in time in this picturesque Andean village that has managed to maintain many of its traditional customs. The view at sunset is unbeatable and the host family will fill your heart with their sweetness. They will open their house to you and make you participate in their daily chores in the middle of the games.

Arrival and meet your family. Accommodation in tent and rest. Later, cultural activities such as dyeing and weaving, Andean ceremonies, agriculture classes, adobe classes, etc. can be added; or adventure activities such as trekking , or you can do it on your own, explore the surroundings.

Our first stop will be the floating islands of the Uros and their community, one of the oldest on the continent. Although today it is said that little remains of the original Auros, their descendants have been able to preserve the knowledge and techniques to braid and mold the reeds of “Totora”, an impressive cultural legacy. With these junks, they create huge floating islands where they build their homes, schools, and medical centers. The Uros are considered the descendants of the oldest people in South America.

We will continue to Taquile Island, a journey of approximately three hours. The inhabitants of this island are of Quechua origin and, although most are farmers, tourism has grown in the area, making it one of the most emblematic destinations of the lake.
