Known as Qosqo, the “navel of the world,” this sacred city was once filled with temples and palaces. Its layout reflected the Andean worldview and Inca organizational principles, such as duality (Hanan and Hurin). The original neighborhoods—structured according to the political and spiritual hierarchy of the Inca elite (panacas)—were later built over by colonial mansions, churches, and public squares. In Inca times, access to the city was strictly controlled.

We start in Hanan Qosqo (Upper Cusco), where you’ll visit the remarkable Sacsayhuamán fortress, known for its massive stone architecture. Though awe-inspiring today, much of its original stonework was dismantled during colonial times and repurposed to construct churches and mansions throughout the city.
Descending through historic streets rich in legend and symbolism, we travel back in time. The tour continues in Hurin Qosqo (Lower Cusco) with a visit to the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), and ends at the iconic Plaza de Armas, the ancient Haucaypata, an important ceremonial place during the Incas.

Your journey ends in the town of Ollantaytambo, which remarkably preserves its original Inca layout, including narrow streets and stone walls still in use today.
