Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport (Lima – 154 m), we will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Miraflores. You’ll have free time to relax and begin acclimatizing at your own pace.

Day 2: City Tour in Lima (B)

We begin the day with a meeting at the hotel to review the travel itinerary and hand over your travel documents. Then, you will have the option to explore some of Lima’s most remarkable cultural treasures in a Half Day City Tour Lima.

Which includes a visit to the Convent of Santo Domingo, an architectural place that synthesizes the peak of colonial architecture and the importance of religious life in the colony. It is possible to climb the tower for observation. We finish the visit in the Plaza de Armas, watching the change of the Guard in the Government Palace (subject to the official program of activities). Return to Miraflores.

Day 3: Lima to Arequipa 2,335 m / 7,660 ft (B)

Take a domestic flight from Lima to Arequipa. Have the opportunity to explore the city in a n optional Walking City Tour.

Day 4: Arequipa - Chivay - San Juan de Chuccho (B/D)

We will depart at 7:00 am from Arequipa, driving 160 km to the town of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. At the beginning of our excursion, we will enjoy the majestic views of the Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before approaching the National Reserve of “Pampa Cañahuas”, where our transportation will make a short stop to observe the wild Vicuñas (one of the 4 types of American camels) in its natural habitat. At this point, we will be about 3,400 meters above sea level. Moving on we will arrive at “Pata Wasi” (Pata=high Wasi=home), an Andean community at the opposite border of the reserve. Here you might enjoy the natural formation of rocks and the view to the backside of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will have an original Andean “Mate de Coca” drink or another hot drink in a rustic restaurant on the road.

Continuing on the road we will pass “Tocra”, a high plain at more than 4,500 meters, where we will observe lakes with migrant birds and get pictures of the “Altiplano” with its Llamas and Guanacos. The highest point of our tour will be “Pata Pampa” (Pata=high, Pampa=land) located at 4,820 meters, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca-Hualca, Mismi (the source of the Amazon River), and the “Cordillera de Chila”. When we are getting close to the town of Chivay (3,651 meters) we will start to wonder at the spectacular multicolour view of the terraces of the Colca valley.

Around 12:00 hrs. We will be in Chivay to have lunch, after lunch, we continue to Cabanaconde 3287 m. (located one and a half hrs. from Chivay), arriving around 14:30 Hrs. from this place we will start the trekking adventure walking inside the canyon. This first day, we will walk down to San Juan de Chuccho 2,600 m. The hike takes about 3 ó hrs.

Day 5: San Juan de Chuccho - Sangalle (B/L/D)

Breakfast in San Juan de Chuccho. Today the hike will take more from us; walking up and down to Cosñirgua 2750 m., Malata 2450 m. and Sangalle 2160 m. (Popularly named Oasis because of the palms). This day the hike through the canyon will take around 5 hours. In Sangalle we will have lunch and then we can enjoy the natural and basic pool of the lodgment. Basic dinner and lodgment

Day 6: Sangalle to Chivay (B)

This day we need to wake up very early to start the trek climbing up until Cabanaconde town. The trek starts at 03:30 hrs. in order to avoid hiking under the hard morning sun.

We will be in Cabanaconde for breakfast and there we’ll meet our private transport and driver again. After breakfast, we keep forward to Chivay town visiting on the route different viewpoints such as the Condor Cross and the town of Maca. We’ll be in Chivay around midday. Lunch in Chivay (Not included).

Around 13:00 hrs. We’ll start our drive back to Arequipa.

Day 7: Arequipa to Cusco (B)

Take a domestic flight from Arequipa to Cusco.
Upon your arrival, explore Cusco’s surrounding archaeological sites, starting with the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, followed by visits to Puca Pucara, Tambomachay, and Q’enko. Back in the city, enter the Cathedral of Cusco, a masterpiece of colonial art, and finish at the Qoricancha, the once-glorious Inca Temple of the Sun, later transformed into a Dominican convent.

Day 8: Cusco - Mollepata - Challancancha - Soraypampa (B/L/D)

Our adventure starts early, departing from Cusco at 5:00 AM. We will head towards Challacancha (3400 m a.s.l. / 11154 ft), a key starting point for explorers, passing through the charming village of Mollepata (3000 m a.s.l. / 9843 feet), where you can appreciate panoramic views of the Apurimac River valley.

From Challacancha, we will start an immersive hike through a spectacular valley surrounded by sacred mountains. Here highlights include the snow-capped Humantay (5217 m a.s.l. / 17116 ft), with its snow-capped peaks shining in the sun, and the majestic Salkantay (6264

m asl. m. / 20551 ft.), one of the highest mountains and revered by the Incas. We will arrive at the camp in Soraypampa (3700 m asl. / 12139 ft.), a place surrounded by the peace of the Andes and breathtaking views.

Day 9: Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Collpapampa (B/L/D)

This day promises to be unforgettable. After a nutritious breakfast, we will start our hike to the imposing Salkantay Pass (4600 m a.s.l. / 15092 ft.), the highlight of the tour. From here, the views of the Nevado Salkantay are breathtaking, offering a perfect setting for photographs and moments of contemplation.

We will begin the descent towards Collpapampa (3000 m a.s.l. / 9842 ft), entering a landscape in transition, where the snow-capped peaks give way to lush vegetation. Along the way, you will be able to observe waterfalls and crystal clear streams, while

Feel how the cold air of the heights transforms into a warmer and more tropical climate. Collpapampa, located at the beginning of the forest of clouds, will be our camp. This place is characterized by its rich biodiversity and its pleasant climate, although with the presence of mosquitoes due to humidity.

Day 10: Collpapampa - Wiñaypoco - Granadilla - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes (B/L)

The day begins with a descent through the cloud forest, a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life. Here you can marvel with a wide variety of flora, including orchids, bromeliads and botides. On the way, we will visit the communities of Wiñaypoco (2650 m|8694 ft) and Granadilla (2100 m | 6890 ft), where you will have the opportunity to interact with

local families and learn about their agricultural customs and traditions.

From Granadilla, we will take a vehicle to Hidroeléctrica, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by nature. The last stage of the day will take us to Aguas Calientes, the picturesque town that serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu. You can choose to walk or take the train (optional and not included) to complete this section. We will spend the night in a hostel.

Day 11: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu Citadel (B)

The most awaited day has finally arrived. We left early to take the bus at 5:30 a.m. to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you will have the unique opportunity to witness how the first rays of sunlight illuminate this historic site, enveloping him in a mystical aura.

During the guided tour, you will discover the secrets of the temples, ceremonial altars, work areas, and residences that make up this archaeological wonder. Our expert guide will help you understand the worldview and legacy of the Incas, making this visit an enriching experience.

At the end of the tour, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch and explore the local market.

Day 12: Optional Second Entrance to Machu Picchu (B)

Have the opportunity to go for a second entrance to the citadel or take the train back to Cusco, closing this unforgettable adventure with a flourish.

Take a tourist bus from Lima to Huaraz. Upon your arrival we will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Huaraz.

Day 15: Huaraz - Cashapampa (2,900 m | 9,514 ft) - Llamacorral (3,650 | 11,975 ft)

Leaving Huaraz city heading to the north of the Callejon de Huaylas we descend by a road to Caraz (2,300m), 1h then from this place we begin to ascend towards the Cordillera Blanca to the small town of Cashapampa (2,900m), 2h, where we meet up with our mountain personnel: guides, cooks, muleteers, etc. and begin the walk having loaded up our donkeys. We begin the trek heading up the Santa Cruz valley to set up our first camp in Llamacorral (3,650m) 3 h.

Day 16: Llamacorral - Taullipampa (4,000 m | 13,123 ft)

We continue the trek up Santa Cruz’s wide valley, passing Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha lakes; we arrive at Quisuar where we can make a diversion towards Alpamayo base camp via the Arhuaycocha valley, with splendid views of the peaks of Quitaraju (6,040m), Alpamayo (5,947m), Artezonraju (6,025m) and others. This night we camp in Taullipampa (4,000m) at the foot of the impressive Taulliraju peak (5,830m) and surrounded by snow peaks.

Day 17: Taullipampa - Huaripampa (3,600 m | 11,811 ft)

This will be a long and tiring day ascending by a steep zig zag path at the foot of the impressive Taulliraju and overlooking the Taullicocha turquoise lake. We arrive at Punta Union (4,750 m |15,584 ft) 3h and see the peaks of Chacraraju (6,112m), Artezonraju (6,025m), Pyramid (5,885m), Huandoy (6,395m), Alpamayo (5,940m), Santa Cruz (6,259m), Rinrihirca (5,810m), Taulliraju (5,830m) and others; now on the east side of the Cordillera Blanca we begin to descend passing the Morococha lake and then into the long, broad Huaripampa valley, passing through red-barked quenual forests and pleasant Andean grasslands; we approach our camp in Huaripampa (3,600m) 4h.

Day 18: Huaripampa - Vaqueria (3,700 m | 12,139 ft) - Huaraz

We continue descending to the small Andean town of Colcabamba (3,350m) 1h then we begin to ascend toward Vaqueria (3,700 m) 2h to take a vehicle up to the Portachuelo de LLanganuco (4,765 m | 15,633 ft) 2h with splendid views of Huascarán Norte (6,768 m) Huascarán Sur (6,650 m), Chopicalqui (6,354 m), Huandoy (6,395 m), and Pisco (5,752 m. Then we descend the Llanganuco valley visiting the Llanganuco: Orkon-cocha and Chinan-cocha lakes.

Day 19: Huaraz to Lima (B)

Take a tourist bus from Huaraz to Lima. Upon your arrival we will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Miraflores.
